Andre Wadsworth Madden Career 1999-2000 - Peak 89 OVR

Andre Wadsworth was widely regarded as the best player in the 1998 draft, a Florida State defensive end and consensus All-American who came off the board third overall to Arizona, behind only Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. He held out 44 days pushing for money closer to theirs, then posted five sacks as a rookie and looked like a cornerstone.

Then his knees gave out. A series of operations, including microfracture surgery, held him to 36 games and eight career sacks before the Cardinals released him ahead of the 2001 season. He was 26.

Madden captured only the brief promise. Wadsworth carried a peak 89 in the 2000 edition, the game that landed while he still looked the part, then fell to 71 in the 2001 edition as the injuries took over and the career quietly closed.
