Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Scott: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Justin Scott at the 57th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Stewart has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Dylan Stewart
In the 25th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Justin Scott
Justin Scott in pick 57 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick89
Rnd3
Luke Montgomery
They robbed the room for Luke Montgomery here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick129
Rnd4
John Curry
Taking John Curry in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd5
DJ McKinney
They paid sticker price for DJ McKinney in Round 5, Pick 25, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jeremiah Cobb
Jeremiah Cobb in the 239th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick241
Rnd7
Evan Pryor
A tidy little value on Evan Pryor in No. 241, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
