Draft Profile: Bio
Auburn's receiving corps needed a spark in 2024, and Cam Coleman provided it from the moment he enrolled early that January. A consensus five-star recruit out of Central High in Phenix City, Alabama, Coleman carried ESPN's top wide receiver ranking and a No. 3 overall national mark from On3. He was also a standout basketball player who reached the Class 7A state title game, with verified sub-11.4 second 100-meter speed on the track.Coleman made an immediate impact as a true freshman. Across 11 games, he posted 37 receptions for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, highlighted by a seven-catch, 128-yard, two-touchdown showing against Texas A&M that earned him SEC Freshman of the Week. His yardage ranked third among all Auburn freshmen historically, and he closed the year on the SEC All-Freshman Team and On3's True Freshman All-America squad.
His sophomore season brought expanded volume and a bigger role. Coleman finished 2025 with 56 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns across 12 starts, including a career-best 10-catch, 143-yard outing at Vanderbilt. He became just the ninth player in Auburn history to reach 90 receptions, 13 touchdowns, and 1,300 receiving yards. In January 2026, he entered the transfer portal and committed to Texas, joining Arch Manning and fellow wideout Ryan Wingo.

Coleman's 2025 is best read as talent outrunning circumstance. Miscast in a dysfunctional Auburn offense with unstable quarterback play, he still won 13 of 22 contested targets and stacked a 143-yard game on Vanderbilt, then entered the portal as its most coveted receiver and landed at Texas alongside Arch Manning. The five-star tools are all here: length, easy speed to clear the top, and the body control to pluck throws away from his frame.On the boundary he releases cleanly and tracks the deep ball with a natural feel, and an 88-yard, one-score day against Oklahoma hinted at what better spacing unlocks. The edges are real. His short-area grade trails the vertical work, he put four throws on the ground and lost two fumbles, and his after-the-catch yardage stayed thin because he goes down on first contact. None of that is unusual for a boundary receiver still learning tempo with a freshman throwing him the ball.
A vertical passing game that isolates him outside is the right setting, and a functional offense should reveal whether the tape undersold him. Overall, the traits carry first-round weight, and if the drops tighten and the contested rate holds, Coleman profiles as a long-term starter, with true number-one upside if the offense around him finally cooperates.
