Draft Profile: Bio
Jerrick Gibson was born in Gainesville, Florida, played at Mundy's Mill in Georgia and finished at IMG Academy, rushing for 740 yards and eight touchdowns in his final prep season. ESPN ranked him the top running back in his class, and he had offers from Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and USC before signing with Texas.

Gibson played in 15 games for the Longhorns in 2024 and ran 78 times for 377 yards and four touchdowns, with a 100-yard game against Florida, but he fumbled three times. He made one start in four games in 2025, running 37 times for 152 yards and a score, and left the program on 14 October 2025.

Gibson joined Purdue on 4 January 2026. He has been a backup this season, carrying 18 times for 58 yards in five games, and has not recorded a carry since the game against Illinois on 3 October. In pass protection he has allowed a sack and two other pressures on 11 blocking snaps.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Top-tier forty time gives him home-run speed in space
  • Ran for 100 yards against Florida in the SEC
  • Former No. 1 running back in the country per ESPN
  • Scored four rushing touchdowns as a reserve for Texas in 2024
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Fumbled three times on 78 carries in 2024
  • Departed the Texas program on 14 October 2025, midseason
  • Averaging just 3.2 yards per carry at Purdue
  • Allowed a sack among three pressures on 11 blocking snaps
  • No carries since the Illinois game in early October
Scouting Report: Summary
Gibson is a fast former top recruit who has flashed big-game ability, with 100 yards against Florida in 2024. His speed suits a change-of-pace role.

However, ball security has been a problem, he left Texas during the 2025 season, and he has done little at Purdue. He has also struggled in pass protection.

Overall, Gibson is a talented back whose career has stalled. He projects as a priority free agent who needs a fresh start to show his ability.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
