Draft Profile: Bio
Dwight Phillips Jr. is the son of Dwight Phillips Sr., the 2004 Olympic long jump champion and a four-time world champion. At Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Georgia, he won the state Class 7A title in the 100 meters in 2022 with a time of 10.43 seconds, and he was an All-American Bowl selection as a four-star running back.

Phillips scored on a four-yard run against Florida as a freshman in 2024, finishing with six carries for 33 yards in six games. He was a reserve again in 2025, running for 210 yards and a touchdown on 35 carries, with his best day a 60-yard game against Marshall, and he battled an ankle injury.

Phillips came out of spring 2026 fourth on the depth chart but became the lead back after injuries ahead of him. He ran for 84 yards and a 54-yard touchdown on eight carries against Oklahoma, caught five passes for 75 yards and a score against Vanderbilt and set career highs with 17 carries for 120 yards in the 20-17 win at Alabama.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Elite speed from a state champion sprinter in the 100 meters
  • Ran for 120 yards on 17 carries in the win at Alabama
  • Averaging about 7.5 yards a carry on 55 rushes this season
  • Reliable receiver who has caught 11 of 12 targets, including a touchdown against Vanderbilt
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Very light frame that may not hold up to a full workload
  • Only 55 carries this season after starting fourth on the depth chart
  • Ankle injury limited his role during the 2025 season
  • Seldom used in pass protection, with only 15 snaps in that role
  • Auburn held him to 68 yards in a Georgia loss
Scouting Report: Summary
Phillips has gone from fourth on the depth chart to Georgia's most productive running back. He has rare speed, inherited from an Olympic champion father, and he has made big plays as a runner and receiver, including a 54-yard touchdown against Oklahoma and 120 yards at Alabama.

However, his slight build raises durability questions, and he has never carried a full workload. He has also had ankle trouble, and he has rarely been asked to block in pass protection.

Overall, Phillips is an explosive change-of-pace back with a lot of upside. He projects as a priority free agent now, with room to climb if his late-season form holds.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
