Jaguars linebacker: 587 tackles across five seasons

Telvin Smith was born on April 11, 1991, in Valdosta, Georgia, played college football at Florida State, and won the BCS national championship for the 2013 season. Jacksonville drafted him in the fifth round, 144th overall, in 2014. He appeared in all 16 games with nine starts as a rookie, and Madden NFL 15 listed him at 64 for the 2014 season. He moved into the full-time weak-side linebacker role in 2015, when Madden NFL 16 raised him to 79.

In 2017 he recorded 102 tackles, three interceptions, a sack and 12 tackles for loss across 14 starts, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl and named second-team Associated Press All-Pro. Madden NFL 18 rated him 82 for that season. In the divisional round he returned a Ben Roethlisberger fumble 50 yards for a touchdown in a 45-42 win at Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville then lost the AFC Championship Game to New England.

He started all 16 games in 2018 and set a career high with 134 tackles, and Madden NFL 19 put him at 90 for that season. In May 2019 he announced he would sit out the year, Jacksonville placed him on the reserve/retired list that July, and he did not play in another regular-season game. Smith played 76 games, all for Jacksonville, and finished with 587 tackles, nine interceptions and 7.5 sacks.
