Colt McCoy: Texas record-setter, 13 NFL seasons, 36 starts
Colt McCoy was born on September 5, 1986, in Hobbs, New Mexico. He started four seasons at quarterback for Texas and won the Walter Camp, Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards in 2009, after finishing second in the 2008 Heisman voting. The Cleveland Browns drafted him in the third round, 85th overall, in 2010, and Madden NFL 11 rated him 71 overall for that rookie year.
Injuries to Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace gave McCoy his first start against Pittsburgh in Week 6 of 2010, and he beat New Orleans and New England in the two weeks after. He opened 2011 as Cleveland's starter and made 13 starts, and Madden NFL 12 gave him a 77 for that season, his highest. A concussion suffered against Pittsburgh in Week 14 ended his time as the Browns' starter.
Cleveland traded him to San Francisco in 2013, and he signed with Washington in 2014, beating Dallas in overtime on October 27 with 25 completions on 30 attempts for 300 yards. Madden NFL 17 listed him at 68 for 2016, and Madden NFL 21 at 61 for 2020, the year he started twice for the New York Giants. He played for Arizona in 2021 and 2022 and retired on August 19, 2024, with 7,975 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and 32 interceptions.
