Colts punter, 2014 All-Pro, retired at 29 after eight seasons
Pat McAfee was born on May 2, 1987 in Plum, Pennsylvania, and handled punting, kickoffs and place-kicking at West Virginia. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the seventh round, 222nd overall, in 2009. He punted in all 16 games as a rookie, made the PFWA All-Rookie team and played in Super Bowl XLIV in February 2010. Madden NFL 10 rated him 66 for that first season.
On October 20, 2013 he brought down Denver returner Trindon Holliday after a long kickoff return, and the league declined to fine him for the hit; Madden NFL 25 rated him 94 for that season. He was a first-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowl selection in 2014, the year he recovered his own onside kick in a game at Houston. Madden NFL 16 rated him 95 for the 2015 season.
He made a second Pro Bowl in 2016, a year Madden NFL 17 rated him 86. Facing a third knee surgery in four years, he announced his retirement on February 2, 2017 at age 29 and joined Barstool Sports. He finished with 575 punts for 26,653 yards, a 46.4-yard average and 193 punts inside the 20, all with Indianapolis. West Virginia inducted him into its Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.
