Junior Siavii Madden Career 2005-2010 - Peak 75 OVR

Junior Siavii took a winding road to the NFL, from American Samoa through junior college to Oregon, a big Samoan defensive tackle the Chiefs took in the second round in 2004. He was a rotational interior lineman throughout his career, just the wide body a defense uses to occupy blockers on early downs, never a star but a useful piece.

The Madden card is a modest line. He carried a 75 as a young Chief on draft-day promise, then settled into the 60s during his time in Dallas around 2009 and 2010, the grade of a rotational nose tackle with limited snaps and a thin stat sheet. The number reflected exactly what he was, a depth lineman rated as one, useful in a role rather than a difference-maker.

His story ended in tragedy well after football. Siavii died in January 2022 at just 43, found unresponsive while in federal pretrial custody on a firearms charge, a sad and jarring end to the life of a man whose football career had been quiet and workmanlike. The modest card is the record of the player, and the hard note of his passing is a reminder that the numbers on a roster are always attached to a life.
