Everything about him looked unusual. He used a corkscrew approach, turning his body before the snap and stepping in a circular motion toward the ball, and it worked. A sixth-round pick out of Michigan State in 2000, he kicked for the Bears for five seasons and hit 83.9 percent of his field goals in 2001.

After moving to Minnesota in 2005, he delivered his signature moment on October 23, drilling a 56-yard game-winner against the Packers that stood as the longest field goal in Vikings history at the time. He also finished a perfect 164 for 164 on extra points, tying for the most accurate extra-point mark in league history.

Madden rewarded the leg and the accuracy. He debuted at 82 in the 2000 edition, and after his sharp Chicago seasons the card climbed to matching peaks of 90 in the 2003 and 2004 editions before settling to 83 for his lone year in purple.
