Barry Sims Madden Career 2002-2011 - Peak 90 OVR

Nobody drafted Barry Sims. He came out of Utah, spent 1999 with the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe, and cracked the Raiders' lineup by his fifth game, drawing All-Pro Bruce Smith as a housewarming gift. From there he simply did not leave the field. In 2005 he played every offensive snap across all 16 games, the only Oakland lineman to do so, and he once started 67 straight games before a 2006 injury broke the run. He was the left tackle for the Raiders team that reached Super Bowl XXXVII, the January 2003 loss to Tampa Bay.

Madden treated him like the slow-burn story he was. A 63 in the 2000 edition became an 82 by 2002 and topped out at a 90 in the 2004 edition, right as he settled in as Oakland's blindside protector. The numbers eased down through his thirties as he moved to San Francisco for three seasons, closing at a 74 in the 2011 edition. Sims retired with 174 games, 141 of them starts, a captain in his final Oakland year and a jersey retired at his Park City high school.
