Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chiefs: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Chiefs did exactly that with Nyck Harbor in the 75th overall pick.

Bowen at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In pick 31 they get a security blanket over the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kade Pieper
A tidy bit of business in the Round 2 slot, where Kade Pieper graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
A big swing on Nyck Harbor at Round 3, Pick 11, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick95 Rnd3 Iapani Laloulu
By-the-book stuff, Iapani Laloulu at pick No. 95 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick133 Rnd4 Koi Perich
They took Koi Perich at par in the 133rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick168 Rnd5 Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks at slot 168 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
Pick177 Rnd5 Eli Bowen
A cornerback of that caliber at the 177th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick212 Rnd6 Dylan Raiola
No drama and no debate, Dylan Raiola went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256 Rnd7 TJ Metcalf
Fair-plus on TJ Metcalf, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
