Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Panthers let Shuler fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Thirty-one other rooms let Adon Shuler slide, and the Panthers were the ones holding the card at the Round 4 slot. Highway robbery. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Becker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The back end got a real overhaul.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Chris Peal
In No. 19 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Charlie Becker
Charlie Becker at Round 2, Pick 19 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick83 Rnd3 Myles Graham
A slide stopped in pick 83, with Myles Graham worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119 Rnd4 Adon Shuler
Adon Shuler in slot 119 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156 Rnd5 Ashton Hampton
Ashton Hampton at the 156th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick157 Rnd5 Coen Echols
Coen Echols in the 157th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick198 Rnd6 Marquis Johnson
No edge and no loss on Marquis Johnson in pick No. 198; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick235 Rnd7 Dylan Raiola
They paid sticker price for Dylan Raiola in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
