Draft Profile: Bio
Turner Corcoran, an offensive tackle from Nebraska, began his journey as a highly touted recruit from Lawrence Free State High School in Kansas. A four-star prospect and the top-ranked player in his state, Corcoran garnered attention from powerhouse programs across the nation. He chose Nebraska, where he quickly made an impact, becoming the first true freshman to start at left tackle in school history during the 2020 season.

Throughout his collegiate career, Corcoran demonstrated versatility and durability, starting 30 consecutive games across multiple positions on the offensive line. His sophomore season saw him anchor the line for a Nebraska offense that produced a 1,000-yard receiver and a near-900-yard rusher. As a junior in 2023, Corcoran started the first seven games at left tackle before a season-ending injury cut his campaign short.

Off the field, Corcoran excelled academically, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors twice and being named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. He graduated in December 2023 with a degree in criminology and criminal justice, showcasing a commitment to excellence beyond the gridiron.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Hand placement is excellent, and Corcoran shows a good understanding of angles when climbing upfield
  • Corcoran has the size teams look for at the tackle spots, and that is probably enough to get him a look as a swing tackle.
  • Displays good awareness when it comes to reading moving bodies, effectively reacting and adjusting. Corcoran also shows a good feel for combo blocks.
  • Awareness is above-average for his limited experience. Sells trap block and can turn to seal. Fluid getting to and adjust at the second level.
  • Strong enough to control and plant linebackers and safeties attacking gaps.
  • He's infinitely coachable and athletically gifted with the ideal frame, physique, weight distribution, knee bend and hand strength to be molded into a special blocker.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • While he’s solid as an athlete, he’s more comfortable moving forward as a run blocker than setting in pass protection, as Corcoran too often relies solely on his initial punch to stand up pass rushers instead of moving his feet.
  • Can be beat off the edge coming out of his stance lunging to reach speedy wide rushers.
  • Will punch at smaller defenders instead of latching on and is more of a mauler than mover in the running game. Can improve maintaining outside leverage when doubling the nose. Ducks his head and gets too upright, causing him to fall off second-level blocks.
Scouting Report: Summary
Turner Corcoran, once a blue-chip recruit and the top-ranked prospect out of Kansas, presents as a developmental offensive line prospect with the versatility to potentially stick at tackle or kick inside. He has the movement skills and mental processing to excel in zone-blocking schemes but needs to add mass and improve play strength for power concepts. Technical refinement in hand placement and leverage will be crucial for Corcoran's success against NFL-caliber edge rushers.

Corcoran's best fit would be in an offense that values athletic linemen and employs a diverse run game. He could contribute early as a swing tackle or sixth man while bulking up and honing technique. Despite not fully living up to his lofty high school recruiting status, Corcoran has the upside to develop into a solid starter if he can maximize his physical tools and maintain durability.

While not a plug-and-play prospect, Corcoran offers intriguing traits that could make him a valuable depth piece with starter potential down the line. Teams will need to weigh his positional flexibility and coachability against size limitations and injury history when considering draft capital investment in the Nebraska product.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
