Draft Profile: Bio
Gennings Dunker grew up in Lena, Illinois, where he was a two-way force who helped his team capture state championships as a freshman and junior while reaching the semifinals as a sophomore. The program went 39-2 during his three seasons before COVID-19 wiped out his senior year entirely. Standing 6'5" and 320 pounds (born May 8, 2003), Dunker was also a track athlete and wrestler who earned all-state honors as a junior and first-team all-conference recognition on both sides of the ball. Despite the raw tools and dominance against smaller-school competition, he flew somewhat under the national radar as a three-star recruit.Iowa brought Dunker into their 2021 class with the understanding that development takes time in their system. He redshirted his true freshman year without seeing game action due to injury, then appeared in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2022, earning his first career start at right guard in the Music City Bowl win over Kentucky. From 2023 onward, Dunker owned the right tackle spot, starting 13 games that year and helping the Hawkeyes rush for 254 yards against Western Michigan. The 2024 season saw him earn second-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches while anchoring a line that averaged 197.2 rushing yards per game, the program's best mark since 2002.
His final collegiate season in 2025 was his best. Dunker started all 13 games at right tackle, pushing his career total to 38 starts, and was named first-team All-Big Ten by the media. More importantly, the offensive line won the Joe Moore Award as the nation's best unit. He helped pave the way for 200-plus rushing yard performances in five different games, including a 310-yard explosion against UAlbany in the season opener. Dunker also earned CSC second-team Academic All-America recognition, the Forest Evashevski Academic Achievement Award, and the Hayden Fry Award for offense. His Senior Bowl performance only reinforced his standing as one of the class's premier interior offensive line prospects.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Generates violent movement at the point of attack with exceptional leg drive and upper-body torque that consistently displaces defenders in the run game.
- Once his hands land clean, defenders are locked in place; his grip strength and ability to steer blocks is among the best in this class.
- Plays with a nasty disposition that shows up every snap; finishes blocks with bad intentions and keeps grinding well after the whistle.
- Anchor is sturdy enough to absorb bull rushes without giving ground; rarely gets walked back into the quarterback's lap on power moves.
- Creates serious knock-back on combination blocks and climbs to linebackers with enough force to jar them off their feet entirely.
- Footwork timing is refined on angle blocks, allowing him to seal edges and open cutback lanes in gap and duo schemes effectively.
- Freakish weight room numbers translate to the field; there's legitimate pound-for-pound power advantage against most interior defenders.

Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Functional length is borderline for the NFL tackle position; his punch range struggles to dictate angles against longer-limbed edge rushers consistently.
- Lacks the explosive first step to win reach blocks on the backside of outside zone concepts; often arrives late creating run-through lanes.
- Hip stiffness limits his ability to redirect and mirror sudden change-of-direction moves; quicker rushers can work him into bad angles.
- Gets caught leaning and overextended when defenders stack and move their feet; pass rushers who can create secondary moves find success.
- Foot quickness grades as pedestrian for the position; creates shorter corners in pass protection that more athletic rushers will exploit.
Scouting Report: Summary
Dunker's combination of raw power, grip strength, and sheer nastiness makes him a legitimate tone-setter up front. The issue is that phone booth needs to be pretty small. His movement limitations and modest length create real concerns about whether he can hold up against NFL-caliber speed rushers on the edge. The tackle tape is fun, but the guard projection makes the most sense for his skill set at the next level.Inside at guard, Dunker's game translates beautifully. He's built for gap and duo schemes where he can fire off the ball and put his hands on people in tight quarters. His ability to generate initial movement on double teams and then climb to the second level with force is exactly what offensive coordinators want from their interior linemen. Run-heavy offenses that lean on play-action concepts coming off the ground game will love what he brings to the table. He doesn't need to cover much grass to be effective, which plays directly into his strengths.
The floor here is high. Dunker has the makeup to crack a starting lineup during his rookie contract if placed in the right scheme. Teams that want to establish the run and protect their quarterback through controlling the line of scrimmage rather than winning one-on-one pass protection battles will find real value. He's not going to be the guy sliding out to handle elite edge talent in obvious passing situations, but between the tackles, there are few prospects in this class who play with more controlled violence. The ceiling is a decade-long starter at guard for a physical, run-first offense.
