Nebraska Bets on a Mobile Quarterback and a Portal Makeover in Year 4 Under Matt Rhule

Nebraska went 7-6 (4-5 Big Ten) in 2025, reaching a second straight bowl under Matt Rhule but collapsing at the finish, dropping its final three games by 27, 24 and 22 points before a 22-44 Las Vegas Bowl loss to Utah. The defining offseason move came at quarterback: Dylan Raiola left for Oregon, and Rhule answered by importing UNLV's Anthony Colandrea, the reigning Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year. A new defensive coordinator, Rob Aurich from San Diego State, arrives to install an attacking 4-2-5, and a heavily reworked offensive line leans on transfer veterans. Year 4 of the Rhule era hinges on how quickly all the new parts mesh.
