A former walk-on out of Olympus High in Holladay, Utah, and the nephew of ex-NBA player Danny Vranes, Bennee earned his way onto the field after appearing in twelve games as a freshman in 2024. His breakout came in 2025, when he became one of the country's surprises in the secondary.Bennee intercepted four passes with two pass breakups across thirteen games, adding 50 tackles and seventeen run stops, and helped extend a Utah pick-six streak with a 46-yard interception return for a score against Cal Poly. He picked off passes in three straight games to open the year, drew two-way comparisons to Travis Hunter, and turned a walk-on label into one of the more productive ball-hawking seasons in the Big 12. The four-interception season made ball production his clearest selling point, a remarkable jump for a player who began his Utah career as a walk-on.
