Draft Profile: Bio
Da'Marion 'Fluff' Bothwell ran for 3,112 yards and 41 touchdowns as a junior at Oneonta High School in Alabama, where he also made 66 tackles and five sacks on defense. Recruiting services rated him a three-star prospect. He began at South Alabama, where he ran for 838 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2024 and earned third-team All-Sun Belt honors. Bothwell transferred to Mississippi State for 2025 and ran for 677 yards and six touchdowns with 14 catches, missing two games after an ankle injury at Texas A&M forced him off on a cart, though X-rays were negative.
In 2026 he had 113 yards and two touchdowns at Minnesota in a 38-13 win and topped 100 yards against South Carolina and Missouri. A lower-body injury on the first drive against Alabama cost him the LSU game, but he returned with 111 yards against Oklahoma.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Powerful, balanced runner who made nine Missouri defenders miss in a 122-yard game
- Topped 100 yards against Minnesota, South Carolina, Missouri and Oklahoma
- Sure-handed receiver out of the backfield with no drops this season
- Big frame lets him finish runs through contact near the goal line
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Average speed limits his big-play potential at the second level
- Injuries have cost him games in both of his SEC seasons
- Pass protection technique needs work despite his size
- Texas held him to 49 yards on 17 carries, and he fumbled
- Has eligibility left and could return for 2027
Scouting Report: Summary
Bothwell is a strong, physical runner who breaks tackles and keeps his feet through contact. He has topped 100 yards four times this season, made nine Missouri defenders miss, and catches the ball cleanly out of the backfield. However, his speed is only average, so he rarely turns runs into long touchdowns. Injuries have cost him time in each of his two SEC seasons, and his pass protection needs work. Texas also kept him quiet in his most recent game.
Overall, Bothwell has the power and contact balance to carry a load. He projects as a priority free agent early-down back, though he could return to school for another season.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
