Draft Profile: Bio
Rickey Gibson III was a multi-sport athlete at Hewitt-Trussville High School in Alabama, competing in basketball and track as well as football. Rivals rated him a four-star prospect in the 2023 class. His father, Rickey Jr., played college basketball and then spent nine years playing professionally in Europe.

Gibson played in 26 games with 14 starts at Tennessee, making 42 tackles and six pass breakups. His best season came in 2024, when he made 32 tackles as a starter. He hurt his arm in the 2025 opener against Syracuse and played only about a quarter of football all season. Josh Heupel called him smart and competitive.

Gibson committed to Texas A&M on 8 January 2026 as a graduate student. He has been a reserve this season, playing 133 snaps in six games. He made three tackles against Kentucky, but Arizona State caught two passes on him for 52 yards.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Started 14 games in the SEC across his time at Tennessee
  • Made 32 tackles as a starter for Tennessee in 2024
  • Three tackles in limited snaps against Kentucky this season
  • Smart, competitive player who has been praised by his former coach
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Reserve role this season, with only 133 snaps in six games
  • Arizona State caught two passes on him for 52 yards
  • Missed nearly all of 2025 with an arm injury
  • Very light frame for a cornerback who plays outside
  • Average speed that limits his recovery in coverage
Scouting Report: Summary
Gibson is an experienced cornerback who started 14 games in the SEC at Tennessee. He is smart and competitive, and he was a productive tackler as a starter in 2024.

However, he lost almost all of 2025 to an arm injury and has been a reserve at Texas A&M this season. He is light and only an average athlete, and Arizona State beat him twice for big gains.

Overall, Gibson is a smart, experienced cornerback who has lost his starting role. He projects as a priority free agent who will need to impress in workouts.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
