Draft Profile: Bio
Red Morgan was a four-star safety at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, in the 2024 class, and he originally committed to Florida State before signing with Alabama.

Morgan made eight tackles over 12 games in his first college season, though he left the Tennessee game injured. A spring 2025 move took him from safety to cornerback, and he appeared in 15 games, starting five, including both College Football Playoff games, finishing with 26 tackles. In January he confirmed his return to Alabama for 2026.

Morgan is the starter at the Husky, Alabama's nickel position, this season. He intercepted a pass against Florida State, then had an interception, six tackles and five stops against South Carolina. He also had a sack at Mississippi State. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack has called him one of the best strikers he has seen.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Had an interception and five stops in the win over South Carolina
  • Intercepted a pass against Florida State in September
  • Physical tackler with 13 run stops in eight games
  • Has experience at safety, nickel and outside cornerback
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Tennessee caught six passes on him and he missed two tackles
  • Allows a high completion rate, with 22 catches on 28 targets
  • Average speed that can be exposed in man coverage
  • Penalized against both Florida State and Texas A&M
  • Gave up a touchdown against Texas A&M in October
Scouting Report: Summary
Morgan is a physical, versatile defensive back who has become Alabama's starting nickel. He is an aggressive tackler and has made big plays, with interceptions against Florida State and South Carolina.

However, he gives up a lot of catches, with 22 completions on 28 targets, and Tennessee picked on him in October. He lacks top-end speed, and he has drawn two penalties.

Overall, Morgan is a tough, instinctive nickel with limited range. He projects as a priority free agent who can help on coverage units, though he could also return for another year.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
