Draft Profile: Bio
Jordan Castell from West Orange High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Castell opted to join Florida after being heavily recruited.

In 2023 as a freshman Castell saw action in 12 games and played a total of 660 snaps at safety for the Gators. He recorded decent 51 tackles, 16 assists, while adding 11 stops. In coverage Castell notched up 3 pass breakups, one interception, and an unimpressive QB rating when targetted of 121.5.

As a sophomore in 2024 he played in 4 games and logged 232 snaps for the Gators. He made 18 tackles, 2 assists, and had 4 stops. In coverage he totaled one pass breakup, no interceptions, and an unimpressive QB rating when targetted of 122.9.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Gives up his body in run support with a very good closing burst.
  • Quicker than Castell is fast but has a burst to close in zone coverage and plays physical at the line in man.
  • Reads and deciphers quickly, reacting in a flash with a nose for the ball. Jumps routes and drives fast on plays in front of him.
  • Has the fluid athleticism and speed to cover tight ends and maybe even some big slot receivers. Castell has the ball skills to create turnovers. Castell also has value as a blitzer.
  • Possesses a long, lean build and looks the part of an NFL safety. Highly aggressive coming up in run support, showing the burst to zip through gaps and make tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Closes to the ball quite well and possesses the hands to snatch throws away from his frame.
  • Electrifying athlete; he moves aggressively downhill and delivers violent hits, rarely missing a tackle.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Physicality comes and goes when facing the run. Castell doesn’t show much in the way of take-on skills once Castell meets a blocker
  • While he has man coverage skills, he can struggle when sitting back in zone. He’s not instinctive and struggles reading downfield routes and tracking the deep ball.
  • He’ll draw plenty of flags early on with his playing style. Castell is hesitant when facing the action in zone coverage.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
