In 2023 as a freshman Karnley saw action in just one game and played a total of one snap at cornerback for the Wildcats. He recorded no tackles, no assists, while adding no stops. In coverage Karnley notched up no pass breakups, no interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of .0.

As a sophomore in 2024 he played in just 2 games and logged 34 snaps for the Wildcats. He made only one tackle, one assist, and had no stops. In coverage he totaled one pass breakup, no interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of 39.6.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Has the change-of-direction ability to mirror underneath but did solid work out of press and off coverage.
  • Instincts are outstanding, and Karnley does an excellent job in route recognition.
  • Has excellent ball skills, tracking the ball effectively and instinctively taking the right route to break up the play. Karnley has the strong hands and coordination to come down with interceptions.
  • Stays low in his backpedal and shows the click-and-close ability to break up plays in front of him. Karnley can move well laterally and shows excellent instincts when looking into the backfield in zone coverage.
  • Alert defender for zone coverage, showing good understanding of route progressions occurring behind him and a quick burst downhill to break on underneath passes in front of him.
  • Tracks the ball well downfield and shows good ball skills, including the ability to go up and high-point it in contested-catch situations.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Too often gives too much of a cushion while playing off his man, and it becomes especially problematic since he’s not a particularly willing tackler.
  • He’ll draw plenty of flags early on with his playing style. Karnley is hesitant when facing the action in zone coverage.
  • Is not an asset in run support, looking tentative and underpowered when stepping up against the run.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
