Draft Profile: Bio
Garrett Oakley set school records with 107 catches and 1,640 yards at Scotus Central Catholic in Columbus, Nebraska. He was a three-star recruit and flipped from Northern Illinois to Kansas State, his only FBS offer.Oakley did not play in 2022 and missed the first three games of 2023 with an injury before catching 11 passes and two touchdowns. He made nine starts in 2024, catching five touchdowns and earning second-team All-Big 12 honors, then caught 38 passes for 389 yards and six touchdowns in his 2025 season. His 13 career touchdowns are a Kansas State record for a tight end.
A captain in his last college season, Oakley caught seven passes for 80 yards in the 31-26 loss at Cincinnati and scored against Houston on 10 October. An injury before the Kansas game kept him out of the Arizona State game.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Reliable red-zone target with a school-record 13 career touchdowns
- Seven catches for 80 yards in the game at Cincinnati
- Good speed for a tight end, with the ability to work the seam
- Team captain with three seasons of starting experience
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Drops have been a problem, with six in 2025
- Blocking is inconsistent for an inline tight end
- Missed the Arizona State game with an injury
- Late drops hurt in the loss at Cincinnati
- Production down this season, with 19 catches in six games
Scouting Report: Summary
Oakley is a productive, reliable tight end who has been a red-zone weapon for three seasons. He has good speed for the position, finds space in the middle and holds the school record for touchdowns by a tight end. However, drops have been an issue, including costly ones late at Cincinnati, and his blocking is inconsistent. An injury has also cost him time this season.
Overall, Oakley is a smart, productive move tight end and team captain. He projects as a priority free agent who will need to show he can block well enough to stick.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
