Scouting Report: Strengths
- Soft, reliable hands center the big target for quarterbacks. Shields the defense and will let the ball into his pads to protect it when about to absorb a big hit over the middle.
- Sims plays with a smoothness and balance, and Sims shows a knack for setting up defensive backs.
- Soft hands. Flashes good to very good tracking and overall body control to make catches outside of his frame.
- Thriving on physicality, he’s a contested-catch specialist with a knack for warding off defenders while the ball is in the air. Sims has strong hands and the ability to wrestle the ball away from defenders.
- Has a strong, athletic frame with room for an additional 10 pounds of muscle mass.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Sims seems comfortable in traffic to the point where Sims doesn’t make the effort to create separation.
- Sims really isn’t a burner and doesn’t have elite suddenness, which is problematic considering his average size.
- Because his top-end speed is good-not-great, he doesn’t warrant safety help over the top.
- A glider, moves faster than he appears but lacks the top-end speed to be a real threat down the seam.
