Draft Profile: Bio
Jaden Platt from Eaton High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Platt opted to join Texas A&M.In 2023 as a freshman Platt saw action in just 3 games for the Aggies as he made 2 receptions for just 52 yards for an average of 26.0 yards per reception, with one TD, and an excellent QB rating when targeted of 158.3.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Looks to get involved downfield and will block multiple defenders on a single play when Platt can. Understands his role as a blocker.
- He’s coordinated with soft, reliable hands, and he shows the ability to adjust to balls thrown behind him, as well as a knack for digging out low throws.
- He’s lanky and long-armed, but he has the broad-shouldered frame to carry more weight. Platt was a national high-jump champion in high school, and that athleticism translates to the passing game.
- A fluid mover capable of creating some separation over the middle of the field, he has the long arms and soft hands to provide a sizable catch radius.
- Soft, reliable hands center the big target for quarterbacks. Shields the defense and will let the ball into his pads to protect it when about to absorb a big hit over the middle.
- Good strength and effort to run through arm tackles.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- And he’ll need to become a sharper route runner, especially on option routes, to create separation at the intermediate level.
- He’s largely a non-factor downfield, and Platt had issues with drops when running behind a defensive back and tracking the ball. More quick than fast, he won’t always be able to run away from NFL defensive backs.
- He’ll also have to adjust to getting his head around to locate the ball on shorter routes over the middle.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
