Draft Profile: Bio
A four-star and a top-150 national recruit out of C.H. Flowers in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Umeozulu was the No. 18 edge in his class and signed with South Carolina, bringing rare length at six-foot-six. He spent three seasons with the Gamecocks, earning a career-high snap count behind a star starter.

In 2025 Umeozulu recorded a sack and fifteen pressures across twelve games with nine run stops, flashing the length as a rusher even as the overall production stayed light across his career. His most active game came against LSU with three pressures, and he entered the transfer portal afterward and committed to Alabama, a long, developmental edge with upside still to tap. The rare 6-foot-6 length and the developmental upside keep the projection alive, with the snap-to-snap production still the question after three seasons of modest production at South Carolina.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Long frame at 78 inches with the size to set an edge
  • Sure tackler for the position, missing only two on the year
  • Pressured LSU three times in a single game
  • Carries four-star pedigree and a long, developable build
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Poor timed speed, among the slowest in this edge group
  • Production is thin, with one sack across the season
  • Gives up too much in coverage when asked to drop off the edge
  • Career output has never matched the recruiting billing
  • Little corner threat as a rusher to speak of
Scouting Report: Summary
Umeozulu is a long, developmental edge whose 78-inch frame and four-star pedigree are the selling points after a quiet college career at South Carolina. He finishes tackles reliably with only two misses, set the occasional firm edge, and pressured LSU three times in his best game, but the production is thin and the athletic testing is below the bar for the position. The size and reach are projectable; The tape is the question.

The limitations are real and stack up. His timed speed is poor, among the slowest in this edge group, his production amounts to one sack, his beaten too often in coverage when dropped off the edge, and his pass rush lags with little corner threat. His career output has never matched the recruiting billing across three seasons. He is a size-and-tackle-reliability player without the burst to win as a pure rusher.

The fit is a developmental, run-down edge or heavy outside linebacker who wins with length and a dependable tackle finish rather than disruption, a depth piece on traits. He has to prove he can rush the passer at all to carve out more than a special-teams role, because the speed and production give him little. He grades as a priority-free-agent flier on size, now on his final eligibility at a new program.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
