Draft Profile: Bio
Joseph Borjon was a baseball pitcher throwing in the high 80s at Walnut High School, having quit football at 12 before returning to the sport as a junior. With no football offers out of high school, he went the junior college route at Mt. SAC, landing on the all-conference second team as a freshman and drawing interest from several FCS programs.

Instead, Borjon walked on at Arizona in 2022 and soon earned a scholarship, then played in six games with three starts in 2023, including the Alamo Bowl. When the Wildcats' staff turned over after Jedd Fisch left, he transferred to San Diego State, drawn by the coaches' detailed development plan and the chance to stay near his family.

A season-ending injury after the 2024 opener cost him most of that year, but Borjon returned to start all 13 games at right tackle in 2025. He moved to left tackle this fall after earning first-team All-Pac-12 preseason recognition from Athlon, and has started every game for the Aztecs, including a 31-29 comeback win over Texas State.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Massive 6-foot-9, 340-pound frame with the reach to swallow rushers once he latches
  • Two-sided experience after a full season at right tackle and a move to the left this fall
  • Durable in 2025, logging more than 800 snaps after losing most of 2024 to injury
  • Steady in the road start at UCLA, allowing no pressures in a full game
  • Committed worker who walked on at Arizona and earned a scholarship
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Inconsistent in protection, with 15 pressures in 2025 and rough outings at Washington State and Hawaii
  • Flags keep piling up, with seven in five games at left tackle
  • Height makes it hard to win leverage in the run game, so he gets stood up
  • Older prospect who began college in 2020, which narrows his developmental runway
Scouting Report: Summary
Borjon's route to the NFL radar has been anything but direct: a baseball pitcher who gave up football as a kid, a junior college lineman with no scholarship offers, a walk-on at Arizona and now an established starter at San Diego State. What makes him interesting is the sheer size of the package. At 6-foot-9 and 340 pounds, he covers an enormous amount of space once his hands land, and he played more than 800 snaps at right tackle in 2025 after an injury wiped out his first season with the Aztecs.

However, the tape is not as big as the frame. His results in protection come and go, with rough outings at Washington State and Hawaii last season, and his height makes it difficult for him to win the leverage battle in the run game. Seven penalties in five games since moving to left tackle point to a player who is not yet comfortable on the blind side. He is also an older prospect who started college in 2020, so teams will not view him as a long-term project.

Overall, Borjon is a huge, experienced tackle whose best fit is on the right side in a power-based scheme. He projects as a sixth-round prospect: at best a backup who can start in a pinch, at worst a camp body whose size alone earns him a long look.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
