Draft Profile: Bio
Jacobe Johnson from Mustang High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Johnson opted to join Oklahoma after being heavily recruited. In 2023 as a freshman Johnson saw action in 8 games and played a total of 79 snaps at cornerback for the Sooners. He recorded just 4 tackles, no assists, while adding one stop. In coverage Johnson notched up no pass breakups, one interception, and an elite QB rating when targetted of 47.9.
As a sophomore in 2024 he played in 4 games and logged 56 snaps for the Sooners. He made just 7 tackles, no assists, and had one stop. In coverage he totaled no pass breakups, no interceptions, and a disapointing QB rating when targetted of 116.0.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Long, strong and fast, has a prototypical build for a press corner. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage, lining up under an opponent’s chin strap and consistently knocking receivers off their routes early thanks to quick, powerful hands.
- He’s tall-framed with long arms to match. With his powerful hands, straight-line speed, and fluidity in his hips, turning and chasing downfield shouldn’t be a problem.
- Physical, sheds defenders and works off blocks. Good toughness with recognition skills to fight through traffic and blow up screens.
- Is an explosive mover with quickness and speed. He’s at his best attacking downhill, shooting gaps in run support, and disrupting the backfield.
- On the boundary, Johnson has the strong core and hips to latch on to receivers and escort them to the sideline.
- He’s long and strong enough in his core to steer receivers to the sideline without getting grabby with his hands when playing inside technique.
- Tracks the ball well downfield and has the innate feel for high-point passes. He’s willing to come up and fill against the run and seems to take pride in delivering violent hits in run support.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Better in press coverage than in off coverage, when Johnson can look shaky and unsure when transitioning out of his backpedal. He’ll give up throws underneath.
- Feet aren’t ideal, as he gets sloppy in his backpedal and can be sluggish when transitioning to close on the ball.
- Willing but not threatening tackler. Doesn't have the quick-twitch reaction when he gears down to rebuild to top speed. More instinctive than explosive.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
