Draft Profile: Bio
A 2022 recruit out of Wichita East High School in Kansas, Tobi Osunsanmi chose in-state Kansas State. A redshirt year in 2022 followed, and he then played in all 13 games in 2023 as a backup linebacker and passing-down rusher, tying for the team lead with five kickoff coverage tackles.

He had 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble as a rotational defensive end in 2024 and was off to a fast start in 2025, with four sacks in six games, before a season-ending injury in October. He moved on to Indiana as a transfer in January 2026.

Curt Cignetti singled him out during spring practice as a transfer who was starting to take a step, and he has become a fixture on the Hoosiers' edge. Through nine games of 2026 he has nine sacks and a forced fumble, with at least one sack in eight straight games, including two against Ohio State.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Rare get-off and acceleration around the corner, finishing with nine sacks in nine games
  • Two sacks against Ohio State proved he can beat a top offensive line
  • Consistent finisher who has recorded a sack in eight straight games
  • Chases runs down from the back side and makes plays at the line
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Lacks the size to hold up at the point when big tackles lock on
  • Northwestern completed two passes for 43 yards against him when he dropped into coverage
  • Missed three tackles against Western Kentucky, losing ball carriers in space
  • Season-ending injury in 2025 adds a medical question to his file
  • Total pressure numbers are modest, so his sack rate may not hold up
Scouting Report: Summary
Osunsanmi is an explosive, speed-first edge rusher who has made the most of his move to Indiana. His first step gets him into the backfield in a hurry, and he finishes plays, with a sack in eight straight games and two against Ohio State. He also works hard on the back side against the run.

However, he is undersized for an every-down NFL edge, and blockers who get their hands on him can stall him. He is a liability when asked to drop into coverage, his tackling in space is inconsistent, and the season-ending injury in 2025 will need a clean medical report. His sack total is also high compared with how often he pressures the quarterback, so some regression is possible.

Overall, Osunsanmi brings a sprinter's first step and a habit of finishing at the quarterback. He projects as a seventh-round sub-package rusher who will need special teams value to stick on a 53-man roster.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
