Draft Profile: Bio
Peyton Woodyard was a four-star safety at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California, and was chosen for two national all-star games. His father, Gerald, played receiver at Long Beach State.Woodyard enrolled at Alabama in January 2024 and went through spring practice but never played a game there, committing to Oregon in May 2024. He made nine tackles in 14 games during his first season in Eugene. As a 2025 backup he appeared in every one of Oregon's 15 games, making 22 tackles, and returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown against Oklahoma State.
Woodyard has taken over at strong safety this season and has appeared in each of the Ducks' eight games. He broke up a pass at USC and against Boise State, and he totaled six tackles when Oregon lost 17-15 to UCLA. He has missed only two tackles in 264 snaps.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Took an interception 30 yards for a score against Oklahoma State in 2025
- Reliable tackler with only two misses this season
- Broke up passes against Boise State and at USC
- Made six tackles in the October loss to UCLA
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- UCLA completed both passes thrown at him for 34 yards
- Average speed for a safety who must cover the deep half
- Backup for two seasons before earning this starting job
- Only three run stops in 264 snaps this season
- No interceptions this year after his pick-six in 2025
Scouting Report: Summary
Woodyard is a smart, reliable safety who has stepped into the starting lineup at Oregon. He is a sure tackler, with only two misses this season, and he showed his ball skills with a pick-six against Oklahoma State in 2025.However, he does not cover much ground in deep coverage, and he has made few impact plays this season. He also has only half a season of starting experience.
Overall, Woodyard is a steady, dependable safety without much upside. He projects as a priority free agent, with another season at Oregon also possible.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
