Draft Profile: Bio
Patrick Overmyer played quarterback at Kingwood Park High School in Texas, throwing for 2,028 yards and 24 touchdowns and running for 14 more as a senior. Basketball and baseball were his other sports, and he was recruited as a three-star tight end. His mother, Holly, was an All-American volleyball player at Ohio State.Overmyer began at UTSA, where he was a Freshman All-American in 2024 and caught 27 passes for 344 yards and five touchdowns in 2025, working mostly from the slot. He transferred to Houston for his final season.
A preseason third-team All-Big 12 pick, Overmyer has seven touchdown catches in 2026. He caught eight passes for 73 yards and a score at Texas Tech and tied the FBS record for a tight end with four touchdown catches in the 35-16 win at Kansas State on 10 October.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Red-zone weapon with seven touchdowns, including four at Kansas State
- Former quarterback who reads coverages and settles into soft spots
- Eight catches in each of the games against Texas Tech and Kansas State
- Lines up in the slot and inline, giving the offense flexibility
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Light frame for the position, and his run blocking is a weakness
- Drops have been an issue, with 11 over the last three seasons
- Contested catches are hit or miss, four of 10 this season
- Gains under 11 yards a catch, so he is mostly a short-area target
- Limited after the catch, with six avoided tackles on 39 receptions
Scouting Report: Summary
Overmyer is a smart, productive receiving tight end who has become one of Houston's top red-zone options. He reads coverages like the quarterback he used to be, finds space in the slot or inline, and had a record-tying four-touchdown day at Kansas State. However, his frame is light for the position, and his run blocking is a weakness. Drops have followed him from UTSA, he is inconsistent in contested situations, and most of his production comes on short throws.
Overall, Overmyer is a reliable move tight end with a nose for the end zone. He projects as a priority free agent who needs to get stronger as a blocker to stick.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
