Draft Profile: Bio
Wyatt Young played at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas, and grew up attending Texas A&M games. He first committed to Rice before signing with North Texas, where he caught 18 passes for 295 yards as a freshman in 2024, including a 75-yard touchdown against Texas Tech.Young broke out in 2025, catching 70 passes for 1,264 yards and 10 touchdowns, third in the country in receiving yards, with 768 of those yards coming after the catch. Against Rice in November he caught eight passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns, an American Conference record, and he had six catches for 102 yards and three scores against UTSA. He was a first-team All-American Conference pick as North Texas reached the conference title game. When head coach Eric Morris left for Oklahoma State, Young followed him along with quarterback Drew Mestemaker, saying he would not want anyone else to coach him.
Young has carried that production into the Big 12. He caught five passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in the win over No. 6 Oregon, eight for 192 yards at West Virginia and seven for 74 yards and two scores at Iowa State, and he has scored in seven straight games. He has 43 catches for 713 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games, and Oklahoma State was 5-2 before the Iowa State game.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Gains big yards after the catch, with 768 after the catch in 2025
- Has scored a touchdown in seven straight games this season
- Caught eight passes for 192 yards at West Virginia in September
- Set an American Conference record with 295 receiving yards against Rice
- Quick release and sharp breaks create early separation from the slot
- Won eight of 15 contested targets this season after few chances in 2025
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Almost a pure slot receiver, with very few snaps lined up outside
- Average-sized frame that physical nickel defenders can jam at the line
- Dropped three passes this season after four in 2025
- Most of his production before this fall came against Group of Five defenses
Scouting Report: Summary
Young is a quick, productive slot receiver who turns short throws into big gains. He caught 70 passes for 1,264 yards in 2025, with 768 of those yards after the catch, and set an American Conference record with 295 yards against Rice. He wins with a sudden release and sharp breaks, settles into soft spots against zone and accelerates once the ball is in his hands. The big question coming into 2026 was whether his game would translate to a Power Four schedule, and he has answered it so far. He had 121 yards and a touchdown in the win over No. 6 Oregon, 192 yards at West Virginia and two scores at Iowa State, and he has scored in seven straight games. He has 713 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games, and he has even won eight of 15 contested targets after rarely being asked to in 2025. His chemistry with Drew Mestemaker, who followed the same staff from North Texas, has made him the focal point of the passing game.
However, his role is narrow. He is almost a pure slot receiver, with very few snaps outside, and physical nickel defenders can jam him at the line. He has dropped three passes this season after four in 2025, and his yards after the catch have fallen from about 11 a catch at North Texas to under six this fall. Teams will also want to see him against the best defenses left on the Oklahoma State schedule.
Overall, Young is a natural slot receiver whose separation and run-after-catch skills fit any spread offense. He projects as a third-round receiver and an early contributor in the slot, with the ceiling of a starting inside receiver. His 2025 film at North Texas, with five 100-yard games and a 295-yard day, shows how much production he can create in the right offense.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
