Charlie Becker was a three-star recruit at Father Ryan High School in Nashville, where he was the Division II-AAA West Region offensive MVP as a senior and won state titles in the 110 and 300 hurdles and the 4x400 relay. His father, Dave, lettered at Ohio State and spent three seasons as a catcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, and his brother Cole plays linebacker at Appalachian State.Becker played mostly on special teams as a freshman in 2024. He broke through in 2025 with eight starts, catching 34 passes for 679 yards and four touchdowns and leading the Big Ten at 20 yards a catch. Curt Cignetti called him the offensive player of the game after seven catches for 118 yards at Penn State, and he caught six passes for 126 yards in the 13-10 Big Ten title game win over Ohio State. He scored in the Rose Bowl and the Peach Bowl and made two key third- and fourth-down catches in the 27-21 national title win over Miami.
Becker opened 2026 with six touchdowns in three games, a program record for the start of a season. He had eight catches for 107 yards and two scores at Rutgers, nine for 165 in the 19-15 loss to Ohio State and seven for 124 against Minnesota, and he has 50 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games. He has pledged $1,000 for every touchdown to ALS research.

Becker is a big catch-point winner with strong hands who boxes out defenders and treats contested balls as his advantage. His 2025 breakout came on a part-time route load, but he saved his best for the biggest stage, with 126 yards against Ohio State in the Big Ten title game and key catches in the national championship win over Miami.The 2026 season has answered the volume question. As Indiana's featured outside receiver he has 50 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns, opened the year with six scores in three games and went for 165 yards against Ohio State. He wins on either side of the formation, adjusts well to throws outside his frame and has been a reliable target on third down. His background as a state champion hurdler and special teams contributor speaks to his athleticism and his readiness to handle unglamorous jobs. Nine touchdowns in nine games show how often Indiana looks his way near the goal line.
However, his speed is only average, so he wins by out-positioning and out-catching defenders rather than running past them, and he adds little after the catch. Against NFL corners with length, separation will be harder to come by. His celebration after the 2025 Big Ten title game, an obscene gesture caught on camera, also drew attention, though he later sought out Ryan Day to apologize. Teams will ask about it, but it reads more like a heat-of-the-moment mistake than a pattern.
