Draft Profile: Bio
Reggie Powers III earned first-team All-Ohio honors in 2023 at Centerville High School, piling up 82 tackles, with 7.5 for loss, during his final prep season. A four-star safety who also played basketball, he decommitted from Michigan State and chose Oklahoma over Ohio State and UCLA, enrolling early in January 2024.Powers made four tackles across 12 appearances in his freshman season. He appeared in 13 games without a start in 2025, mostly at the Cheetah position, a hybrid of safety and linebacker, finishing with 31 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
Powers became the full-time starter at Cheetah in 2026 and switched to the No. 3 jersey. He sacked the quarterback at Michigan and against New Mexico, and he had six tackles when Oklahoma beat Texas 27-24 on 10 October. Against South Carolina he had six tackles and four stops. He has said he can also play strong safety when needed.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Strong run defender with 17 stops in eight games
- Sacked the quarterback at Michigan and against New Mexico
- Six tackles as the Sooners beat Texas 27-24
- Versatile enough to play the Cheetah spot or strong safety
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Missed seven tackles this season, two each at Michigan and against South Carolina
- Average speed that limits him in deep coverage
- Allowed a touchdown and 61 yards in coverage against Georgia
- Became a full-time starter only this fall, in his third season
- Could return to Oklahoma for his senior season in 2027
Scouting Report: Summary
Powers is a physical hybrid defender who now anchors the Cheetah spot in Oklahoma's defense. He plays downhill, finishes as a blitzer and supports the run well, with 17 stops and sacks at Michigan and against New Mexico. However, he lacks the range to cover the deep middle, and Georgia beat him for a touchdown. He has also missed seven tackles, and he only became a starter this year.
Overall, Powers is a tough, versatile box defender who fits a specific role. He projects as a priority free agent who would add value on special teams.

For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
