Draft Profile: Bio
Mazeo Bennett Jr. starred at Greenville High School in South Carolina, finishing with 2,059 career receiving yards and 23 touchdowns and earning Class 4A all-state honors as a four-star prospect. He also played basketball and first committed to Tennessee before enrolling early at South Carolina.

Bennett played in 13 games with four starts during his first college season in 2024, catching 30 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns despite an upper-body injury against Texas A&M. In 2025 he played in 11 games with three starts but caught only 10 passes for 62 yards. Head coach Shane Beamer called him one of the team's best players.

Bennett has broken out as the Gamecocks' slot receiver in 2026, with 35 catches for 431 yards and four touchdowns. He had eight catches for 92 yards against Kentucky and six for 88 yards and a score in the 27-24 win over Tennessee. He then caught four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in the 42-25 win at Oklahoma.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Caught four passes for 107 yards and a touchdown at Oklahoma
  • Good run-after-catch skills, with 270 yards after the catch
  • Six catches for 88 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee
  • Quick and fast enough to win from the slot
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Dropped four passes this season, one in each of the first four games
  • Towson held him to two catches for eight yards in September
  • Light frame that limits him to the slot
  • Managed only 10 catches in 2025 after a promising freshman season
  • Has only one season of consistent production in three years
Scouting Report: Summary
Bennett has become a reliable slot receiver for South Carolina this season. He is quick, elusive after the catch and has come on strongly, with big games against Kentucky, Tennessee and Oklahoma.

However, he dropped passes in each of the first four games, and Towson held him to eight yards. He is light, which limits him to the slot, and his 2025 season was a disappointment.

Overall, Bennett is an improving slot receiver who is trending upward. He projects as a priority free agent but has eligibility left if he wants to build on this season.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
