Draft Profile: Bio
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa came out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California, where he was a Butkus Award finalist and the 2023 LA Times Player of the Year. He finished his senior season with 114 tackles and 13 tackles for loss while leading the Braves to a Trinity League title. As a junior, he posted 111 tackles and 5.5 sacks, earned CIF Defensive Player of the Year, and helped St. John Bosco win the MaxPreps National Championship. He missed his entire sophomore year after tearing his right ACL in the final game of his freshman season.A five-star by Rivals and a four-star by ESPN and 247Sports, Viliamu-Asa chose Notre Dame over Ohio State and USC before enrolling early in January 2024. He played all 14 games as a true freshman, recording 37 tackles and picking off his first career interception against Purdue.
His sophomore year in 2025 was a different level. In 11 games he posted 48 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery before a torn left ACL against Syracuse ended his season. He ranked among the most productive Power Four linebackers before the injury. He is expected back healthy for the start of the 2026 season.

Viliamu-Asa is a do-everything off-ball linebacker whose run defense sits at the very top of the position, a downhill force who also lines up in the slot and on the line as a versatile chess piece, with the range, trigger and alignment flexibility to cover, blitz and defend the run. However, a season-ending knee injury in November is the swing factor on the evaluation, at 230 pounds he can be tested by downhill power between the tackles, and he missed seven tackles.Overall, Viliamu-Asa is a rare size-speed athlete who plays fast in space and fills the stat sheet with physical, downhill football, and the only real question is the recovery rather than the tape. He projects as an early three-down starter with elite sub-package value, with the ceiling of a defensive centerpiece on a clean medical and the floor of a rangy every-down linebacker.
