Draft Profile: Bio
Faletau Satuala played at Bountiful High School in Utah, making 86 tackles and six interceptions in his senior season. Rated a four-star recruit and one of the top prospects in Utah, he announced his commitment at the All-American Bowl and chose BYU over Utah and UCLA in January 2024.Satuala made nine tackles and intercepted a pass as a true freshman in 2024. He broke out in 2025, leading BYU in tackles and intercepting three passes, including a 40-yard pick-six in the 41-27 win over Iowa State that earned him Big 12 weekly defensive honors. He added an interception against Stanford, and he was a second-team All-American by the FWAA and a third-team All-Big 12 pick as BYU went 12-2 and narrowly missed the playoff. He announced in January 2026 that he would return to BYU.
Satuala broke his right foot during a shuttle drill in a June 2026 workout and missed the first weeks of preseason camp, but he has not missed a game. Defensive coordinator Kelly Poppinga said he had come back great and looked faster and more physical than ever. He intercepted a pass in the 17-10 win at TCU, made nine tackles in the win over Arizona State and has 49 tackles and eight pressures in eight games for a 7-1 team that beat Notre Dame 28-24 on 17 October.

- Allowed 14 catches on 17 targets this season
- Broke his foot in June, adding a medical question
Scouting Report: Summary
Satuala is a big, physical safety who ranks among the Big 12's most productive defenders. He led BYU in tackles in 2025, intercepted three passes, including a 40-yard pick-six against Iowa State, and was a second-team All-American by the FWAA. He plays well near the line of scrimmage, fills quickly against the run and has added eight pressures as a blitzer this season. His 2026 season has shown his toughness. He broke his right foot in a June workout and missed the first weeks of camp, but he has not missed a game, and Kelly Poppinga said he looked faster and more physical than ever. He intercepted a pass in the win at TCU, made nine tackles against Arizona State and has 49 tackles in eight games for a 7-1 team that has beaten Notre Dame. He has five career interceptions, and his instincts help him make plays on the ball. His interception at TCU came in a 17-10 win that kept BYU unbeaten at the time.
However, his movement skills are the concern for an NFL safety. His timed speed is below average, which limits his range in deep coverage and his ability to recover against vertical routes. He has missed 12 tackles in eight games this season, a big jump from seven in 2025, and he has allowed 14 catches on 17 targets. The June foot fracture also adds a medical question, even though he has played through the season.
Overall, Satuala is a productive, instinctive safety whose size and toughness fit best in the box and near the line. He projects as a fourth-round safety with the ceiling of a starting strong safety and the floor of a core special teams player. As a junior, he also has eligibility remaining, and another season could help him clean up his tackling before he enters the draft.
