Draft Profile: Bio
Devon Jackson was the top-ranked player in Nebraska in the 2022 class, a four-star linebacker from Omaha Burke High School who also won state sprint titles in track. He was a Butkus Award semifinalist and played in the All-American Bowl before picking Oregon over finalists Arizona State and Miami.Jackson redshirted in 2022 and spent the next three seasons in a reserve role. He made 47 tackles and 1.5 sacks with one start in 2024, including seven tackles against Ohio State, then added 41 tackles in 2025 after missing spring practice with an undisclosed injury.
Back for his fifth and final season, Jackson has become a starting inside linebacker in 2026. His first career interception came at Oklahoma State, and he posted a season-high tackle total in the 41-27 win at USC. Dan Lanning has described him as a player who lets his play do the talking.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Rare speed for an inside linebacker, a former state sprint champion who closes fast
- Sure tackler who has missed only three tackles all season
- Good in zone coverage, with an interception and a pass breakup at Oklahoma State
- Fills downhill quickly against the run, with five stops in the win at USC
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Offers little as a blitzer, with no sacks and four pressures this season
- Has allowed touchdowns in coverage against Boise State and Oklahoma State
- Got caught in traffic against the run in the games against Nebraska and Illinois
- One year of starting tape after three seasons in a backup role
- Missed spring practice in 2025 with an undisclosed injury, which teams will check
Scouting Report: Summary
Jackson has finally turned his rare athleticism into a starting role, and his final season has been his best. He runs like a safety, reaches the ball quickly against the run and finishes, with only three missed tackles all season. The USC game, with five stops, was his most complete performance. However, he is still raw as a pass rusher and has given up touchdowns in coverage against Boise State and Oklahoma State. His run fits can get muddied in traffic, and he has only one year of starting tape after three seasons as a backup.
Overall, Jackson offers the speed and tackling reliability that special teams coordinators value, and his range gives him upside as a coverage linebacker. He projects as a priority free agent who could make a roster on his speed alone.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank
in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance.
For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
