D'Jordan Strong attended South Panola High School and was Following high school, Strong opted to join Coastal Carolina.In 2020 as a freshman Strong saw action in 12 games and played a total of 688 snaps at cornerback for the Chanticleers. He recorded 32 tackles, 4 assists, while adding 10 stops. In coverage Strong notched up 6 pass breakups, 5 interceptions, and an outstanding QB rating when targetted of 46.5.
As a sophomore in 2021 he played in 13 games and logged 585 snaps for the Chanticleers. He made 25 tackles, 3 assists, and had 6 stops. In coverage he totaled 8 pass breakups, no interceptions, and QB rating when targetted of 80.9.
In 2022 as a junior Strong played in 11 games and contributed on 347 snaps. He chalked up 13 tackles, one assist, and added 3 stops. In the secondary Strong forced 4 pass breakups, one interception, and gave up QB rating when targetted of 72.2.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- He’s also very good in zone coverage, showing a great understanding of routes and the ability to close quickly.
- Top-end speed is good and is capable of turning and running in press coverage. Strong also shows good instincts when sitting back in zone and looking into the backfield.
- Good instincts and anticipation reads and reacts with discipline. Dangerous with the ball in his hands.
- Tracks the ball well and has the natural ball skills for forcing turnovers.
- Has at least adequate straight-line speed and good balance, fluidity to change direction.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Susceptible to double moves, though that could be coached out of him. But the problem is that Strong doesn’t track the ball downfield, and he seems to lack the ball skills to break up plays.
- Like a lot of collegiate corners, he has a tendency to get grabby, something that will have to be coached out of him.
- Will slip off tackles and needs to finish more consistently.
- Is undersized and underpowered when lining up in press coverage. Strong simply lacks power in his punch.
