Draft Profile: Bio
Braylon Burnside, known as Stonka, had 1,158 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns for Starkville High School's 2022 state champions in Mississippi, then added 1,006 yards and 16 scores in 2023. Rated four stars and selected as an Under Armour All-American, he also ran track and chose Mississippi State over Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M.

Burnside caught one pass and made four tackles on special teams in 11 games for Mississippi State in 2024. Mississippi State tried him at safety during 2025 spring practice, and he played four games while redshirting before moving back to receiver. He transferred to Memphis in January 2026.

Burnside has won the starting X receiver job at Memphis and has 29 catches for 453 yards and three touchdowns. He scored on a 48-yard catch at UNLV in the opener and had a career-best seven catches for 151 yards and a touchdown in the 31-17 loss at Tulane on 16 October.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Caught seven passes for 151 yards and a touchdown at Tulane
  • Averages 15.6 yards per reception as the X receiver
  • Scored on a 48-yard catch in the opener at UNLV
  • Has experience at safety, which helps his understanding of coverage
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Dropped five passes this season, two against East Carolina
  • Boise State held him without a catch in September
  • Won only one of four contested targets this season
  • Light frame that can be knocked off routes by physical corners
  • Only one season of production since moving back to receiver
Scouting Report: Summary
Burnside has found a home at Memphis after an unsettled start at Mississippi State. He is a smooth outside receiver with big-play ability, shown by his 151 yards at Tulane and long touchdown at UNLV showed.

However, he has dropped five passes and won just one contested target. He is light for the outside, and he has produced for only one season.

Overall, Burnside is an improving receiver with big-play ability. He projects as a priority free agent whose stock should improve with more snaps.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
