Jordan Ross made 72 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks as a senior at Vestavia Hills High School in Birmingham, Alabama, earning the Class 7A defensive player of the year award in Alabama, and he played in the Under Armour All-America Game. A five-star recruit, he was On3's No. 1 edge rusher in the 2024 class, and he chose Tennessee over Auburn and Florida.Ross blocked a punt and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown in his college debut in 2024 and was named Freshman All-SEC. He played 11 games as a reserve in 2025, making 23 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss with 13 pressures, with a career-best game against Arkansas and six tackles in the Music City Bowl against Illinois. After Tennessee fired defensive coordinator Tim Banks and did not retain his position coach, he transferred to LSU in January 2026, saying he wanted to start fresh.
Ross has broken out in his first season at LSU. He returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the opener against Clemson, had three sacks and a forced fumble against Mississippi State and two sacks at Auburn, and he has eight sacks and 29 pressures in eight games for a 6-2 team. He has said he feels the LSU defense is just getting started.

Ross is an explosive, bendy edge rusher with rare speed off the snap, and his first season at LSU has turned the traits that made him a five-star recruit into production. He has eight sacks and 29 pressures in eight games, including three sacks and a forced fumble against Mississippi State, and he took an interception 30 yards for a score against Clemson in the opener. He has played more than 50 snaps in five of eight games, a full role for an edge, and he has a sack in five of them.The transfer has given him the role he wanted. He played a reserve role at Tennessee, with 13 pressures in 2025, and sought a fresh start after the staff changes there. At LSU he has become a key part of the pass rush alongside Princewill Umanmielen, and he has finished his plays, with one missed tackle this season. His three sacks against Mississippi State came with six pressures in a 31-0 win, and he has been flagged only once this season.
However, the frame is the clear concern. He is extremely light for an edge, he can give ground against power on early downs, and his anchor needs more mass before he can hold up as an every-down player. He has only one season as a regular, and Ole Miss and Texas A&M kept him without a sack in September, so teams will want to see the production hold through November.
Overall, Ross is an undersized, quick-twitch rusher whose traits and production are both pointing up. He projects as a third-round edge rusher with a starting speed rusher's ceiling once his weight and role grow, and the floor of a situational pass rusher. His blocked-punt touchdown in his debut also points to special teams value, and as a true junior he still has eligibility left.
