Draft Profile: Bio
Anto Saka grew up in Baltimore, one of six children of Anthony and Ann Saka, and his father worked the chains at his games at Loyola Blakefield in Towson, Maryland, where he lettered three seasons. He nearly quit football as a teenager before returning ahead of his sophomore year. A four-star recruit and the No. 4 prospect in Maryland, he chose Northwestern over Michigan, Penn State and USC, among others.Saka redshirted in 2022, then had 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 11 games in 2023. He added 3.5 sacks and five tackles for loss in 2024, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten honors, and in 2025 he made 13 tackles and four tackles for loss, generated 30 pressures and forced two fumbles on 347 snaps, again earning honorable mention All-Big Ten. He finished his degree in learning and organizational studies in May 2026, saying the only thing he owed his mother in life was that degree.
Saka entered the portal in January and picked Texas A&M three days later, citing its record with transfer edge rushers such as Cashius Howell and Nick Gordon. He recovered a fumble in the 50-0 opening win over Missouri State and had a sack against Kentucky, but he appeared to be hurt at Missouri, missed The Citadel game and was a game-time decision before playing seven snaps in the 31-20 loss at Alabama. He has nine pressures in seven games for a 4-4 team.

Saka is a fast, explosive edge rusher whose athletic traits stand out in this class. He has rare speed off the edge, he was named to Bruce Feldman's Freaks List before the season, and he generated 30 pressures and forced two fumbles on only 347 snaps at Northwestern in 2025. He had 5.5 sacks as a redshirt freshman in 2023 and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in both 2024 and 2025.His move to Texas A&M was meant to be his showcase. He chose the Aggies because of their record with transfer edge rushers, and he opened the season with a fumble recovery against Missouri State and a sack against Kentucky. He is also a mature, driven player who earned his degree at Northwestern and has spoken about owing that degree to his mother, and he has started 11 games in his career.
However, his 2026 season has not gone as planned. He appeared to be hurt at Missouri, missed The Citadel game and played only seven snaps in the loss at Alabama, and he has nine pressures and 145 snaps in seven games. His frame is light, so tackles can control him in the run game, and he has been a rotational rusher for most of his career rather than an every-down player. Teams will want to know the nature of the injury and how much his role grows over the final month.
Overall, Saka is a speed rusher with traits that NFL teams covet, but his production has never matched his athleticism over a full season. He projects as a fourth-round edge rusher who could start at outside linebacker in a speed-based front, with the floor of a situational pass rusher. A strong finish and a healthy combine could move him up boards quickly, given how rare his speed is for the position.
