Draft Profile: Bio
A former four-star recruit out of Knoxville Catholic, Baron's collegiate journey has been anything but linear. After four solid years at Tennessee where he steadily improved his production, Baron made pitstops at both Louisville and Miami in 2024, ultimately landing with the Hurricanes where he showcased his most complete season to date. His final campaign resulted in 38 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks while earning All-ACC Honorable Mention honors. The son of former NFL player Patrick Lenoir, Baron's bloodlines and physical tools have been evident since his prep days where he dominated the Nashville prep scene before transferring to Knoxville Catholic for his senior year.

Baron's winding path through the college ranks speaks to a player who's been searching for the right fit, but his on-field production has remained consistent at every stop. At Tennessee, he developed into one of the SEC's more disruptive edge defenders, posting 100 tackles, 26.0 TFLs and 12.5 sacks across four seasons. His transfer to Miami proved fruitful, as he hit the ground running with 4.5 sacks in his first three games. Though the sack numbers tailed off, his pressure rate remained elite with a mid-season stretch of 23 pressures over four games.

What's particularly intriguing about Baron's development is how he's transformed from a raw athlete into a technician off the edge. His film study and dedication to crafting a diverse pass rush arsenal has shown up consistently, especially in his final two seasons where his pressure rates exceeded positional expectations by a significant margin. At Miami, he proved he could produce against elite competition while shouldering a heavy snap count, playing over 75% of defensive snaps in multiple games.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Exceptional leverage manipulation in pass rush situations - consistently gets under tackles' pads and drives through their outside shoulder with impressive torque and power
  • Natural hands fighter who strings together counters smoothly - shows advanced ability to work swim moves off initial power rushes when tackles overset
  • Disciplined edge setter who understands force/spill responsibilities - maintains outside leverage against pulling guards and rarely gets caught peeking inside
  • Elite get-off burst - first step regularly puts tackles in recovery mode before they can get depth
  • Advanced understanding of leverage points and blocking schemes - consistently puts himself in position to defeat blocks before they're fully established
  • Violent hands at the point of attack - jolts tight ends backward and consistently creates separation to shed blocks in the run game
  • Refined cross-chop move that's become his go-to winner - times it perfectly off tackle's punch and maintains balance through contact
  • High-motor player who impacts games with relentless pursuit - chase-down tackles and backside plays show up consistently on film
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Hip tightness limits ability to flatten around the corner - often gets pushed wide of the pocket when speed rushing against quality tackles
  • Pad level rises when fatigued, causing him to lose leverage battles late in games and get washed down the line against doubles
  • Inconsistent tackling technique leads to missed opportunities - drops his head and leaves his feet too often when attempting open-field tackles
  • Counter rush moves need refinement - relies too heavily on his cross-chop and lacks a consistent inside counter when tackles overset
  • Age is a minor concern as he'll be a 24-year-old rookie - physical development curve may be closer to its peak than typical prospects
Scouting Report: Summary
Baron shows legitimate starting potential as a pass rush specialist who can develop into an every-down edge defender. His advanced hand usage and explosive first step make him a legitimate problem for tackles in passing situations, while his strong football IQ helps mask some athletic limitations. The film shows a player who can wreck protection schemes when he's able to pin his ears back and attack upfield. While his run defense needs more consistency, his ability to generate pressure should earn him significant snaps from day one.

His ideal role would be as a designated pass rusher in an aggressive 4-3 scheme that allows him to work in space and attack from wide alignments. Smart defensive coordinators will maximize his pass rush prowess early while developing his run defense fundamentals. With proper coaching focused on his pad level and tackling technique, Baron has the tools to emerge as a quality starter by the end of his rookie contract.

Baron's film reveals a technically refined pass rusher who brings day-one juice to a defensive front. While some edge prospects win purely on athleticism, Baron's advanced hand usage and deep understanding of how to set up tackles separate him from his peers. His explosive testing numbers paired with polished technique point to an NFL-ready edge defender who can make an immediate impact getting after quarterbacks.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
