Draft Profile: Bio
Trey Palmer from Kentwood High School was a track and football star who put up amzing numbers on the field and elite numbers on the track - as a result he was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Palmer opted to join LSU after being heavily recruited.In 2019 as a freshman Palmer saw action in 6 games but wasn't really featured as a receiver
As a sophomore in 2020 he played 8 games but had only 10 catches for 108 yards
As a junior in 2021 he played 11 games and hauled in a decent 30 catches for a decent 344 yards for an average of 11.5 yards per catch, with 3 TDs, and a QB rating when targeted of 85.8.
After the end of the season Palmer transferred to Nebraska after seeing little of the ball due to playing in an overcrowded wide receiver group at LSU. It paid off big and in 2022 he played 12 games and made 71 catches for an impressive 1043 yards for an average of 14.7 yards per catch, 9 TDs, and a QB rating when targeted of 103.7.

Scouting Report: Strengths
- Displays elite deep speed - former track star, Palmer won the state title in both the 100m (10.42) and 200m (21.11) dashes, with his 200m time setting the state-meet record
- Explosive leaper who makes circus catches
- He shows suddenness off the line of scrimmage and accelerates quickly, and his top-end speed is among the best in this draft.
- Is elite as both a kickoff and punt returner - may be worth drafting for this alone
- Palmer tracks the ball well downfield and consistently runs under long throws.
- Has the strong hands any NFL wide receiver coach and quarterback would covet. Tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and brings in passes fluidly without breaking stride downfield.
- Displays crisp efficient route running with no wasted motion
- Offer good versatility and is equally adept on the outside as in the slot - has the hands to avoid the jam in press
- Palmer plays with smoothness and balance, and Palmer shows a knack for setting up defensive backs.
- Willing to go up and attack the ball.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Inconsistent catcher - has totaled 18 drops throughout college which is a major concern. Drop percentage did go down at Nebraska
- Has had just a single year of consistent college production - had to transfer to Nebraska and couldn't break through in the competitive field at LSU
- Has struggles against more physical bigger corners getting in his face - get's a little bit too handsy and will get flagged in the pros
- His route tree was limited at Nebraska
- You won't see him break any tackles - easy to bring out in the open field
Scouting Report: Summary
Trey Palmer has elite speed and is a classic burner with good height and nice route running and when he was finally given a chance to showcase his skills he broke Nebraska's record for most receiving yards in a season. Palmer however is also inexperienced after playing little at LSU, has had way too many concentration drops, isn't particularly strong, and offers little as a blocker.Palmer has probably done enough in a single season at Nebraska to establish himself as a solid third or fourth round selection the 2023 NFL draft.
