Scouting Report: Strengths
- Possesses prototypical measurables for an X outside receiver standing 6-3 and weighing in at 198lbs
- Outstanding athletic ability showcased with a broad jump in the 98th percentile as well as 4.47 forty - combined with long limbs and an elite wing span
- Hugely productive and decorated prospect who has combined for nearly 2400 yds in the last two years and adding 26TDs
- He’s very good in contested-catch situations, using his frame effectively to make plays facing the quarterback. Perry also shows a knack for high-pointing the ball, consistently outmuscling defensive backs.
- Has the strong hands any NFL wide receiver coach and quarterback would covet. Tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and brings in passes fluidly without breaking stride downfield.
- He is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands
- He accelerates quickly and possesses excellent straight-line speed. He shows solid ball-tracking skills and body control downfield, able to adjust to the off-target throw showing skills developed from a basketball background
- A long strider who once he gets going can quickly eat up defensive backs' cushion
- Not just a homerun deep threat - is effective on slants, posts, and quick outs and comebacks
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Doesn't explode off the line and his speed takes too long to develop - demonstrated by a 32nd percentile 10-yard split at the combine
- Isn't particularly strong - and while he is tall he isn't dominant physically and his timing can be disrupted by bigger DBs
- Despite having very good hands he does suffer from concentration/focus drops
- Perry is more fast than quick and also lacks some suddenness as a route runner, and that is a potential issue at the next level
- Doesn't block as well as you expect given his size - will need development in this area
Scouting Report: Summary
A.T. Perry is an excellent NFL wide receiver prospect who has some elite measurables. He possesses ideal length, excellent deep speed, along with outstanding hands, and looks like an ideal fit as a traditional pro X-receiver. Perry however isn't quite as twitchy as you would like and has a tendency to round his routes reducing his short-range effectiveness.Perry has great potential at the next level as a deep threat although his skills don't end there and scouts have begun to recognize this. He'll have a very good pro career and will likely not last past the third round of the 2023 NFL draft.
