Draft Profile: Bio
Football runs in the Burke family. His father Matt played offensive line at Bethune-Cookman and now coaches the position at South Broward High in Florida, the same program Travis attended and where younger brother Sean later played tight end before signing with Florida International as a 2025 recruit. Travis came through Pop Warner with the Broncos and kept playing through rec ball and middle school before arriving at South Broward as an undersized freshman.A ten-inch growth spurt before his junior year reshaped everything, though the late physical development meant larger programs overlooked him. He handled right tackle, defensive line and long snapper duties, helping South Broward reach the 2019 Class 7A state playoffs. COVID clipped his senior year to six games, and a late Gardner-Webb offer in November 2020 became his only FCS landing spot.
Burke redshirted in 2021, then started all 13 games the following season before transferring to Florida International, where he logged two full years at left tackle. He jumped again for his final season, landing at Memphis and starting 11 games at right tackle before a lower-body injury closed his year. First-team All-AAC honors followed. He accepted a 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl invitation but could not play due to the injury.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Fires a heavy punch into defenders and locks on with strong, late hand fits.
- Finishes with real intent when he gets hands inside, will bury defenders on the ground.
- Length shows up on kickouts and reach blocks, clearing space off the edge.
- Sinks his hips and sits into power better than most tackles his height.
- Took clear step forward in 2025 identifying and passing off tackle-end games.
- Moves adequately out of his stance on zone, working frontside or cutting off backside.
- Combine length confirms what shows on tape against wide rushers trying to work around him.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Feet get heavy in space, labors to connect on climbs to second level.
- Slow off the snap against speed, late to his set-point versus NFL-caliber edges.
- High pad level at times makes him vulnerable to bull rushers attacking his midline.
- Struggles to recover and redirect once beaten around the corner or across his face.
- Will get displaced by stout 4i and 5-tech defenders who beat him to the punch.
- Still overcommits on twists, riding the end too deep and opening inside lane.
- Lower-body injury ended his 2025 season before bowl invitations could be answered.
Scouting Report: Summary
The 2025 leap at Memphis is the tape worth believing. Burke moved from a player scouts had written off as a priority free agent into a real developmental piece, and the why is on film: cleaner hand placement, firmer anchor work against power, and a willingness to finish that wasn't always there at Florida International. His length plays, his run-blocking temperament plays, and when he lands his punch cleanly he controls reps through the whistle.The concerns are real though. He's a tall, high-hipped tackle with stiff feet in space, and NFL edge speed will test him on the back side of every third-and-long. Zone-heavy schemes asking him to execute reach blocks and backside cut-offs fit his skill set better than a pure gap concept that leaves him exposed on second-level climbs. Interior kick might be worth exploring down the road given the anchor concerns outside, though his experience there is nonexistent.
Realistic ceiling is swing tackle with eventual spot-starter value, most likely on the right side where he closed his college career and where his length matters more than his recovery quickness. Floor is a developmental camp body who needs a full year in an NFL strength program before the technique work can catch up. The lower-body injury and missed Shrine Bowl reps do not help an evaluation that already asked teams to weight one year of improved tape heavily, but the tools and the edge in his play are worth a late flyer.
