Scouting Report: Strengths
- Has quick feet and excellent change-of-direction ability, capable of mirroring quickness underneath.
- He’s a willing and capable hitter in run support and closes fast to make plays against quick screens.
- He’s a better tackler than his size might suggest.
- Does a good job getting his head around in time when playing with his back to the line of scrimmage. Has the ability to cover quickness underneath.
- Alert defender for zone coverage, showing good understanding of route progressions occurring behind him and a quick burst downhill to break on underneath passes in front of him.
- Can track the ball downfield and gets his head around when playing in a trail position, and Rodgers shows excellent ball skills when breaking on a route. He’s a plus tackler in run support as well.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- His appetite for crashing down against the run came and went in college, and he’s likely to get walled off easily by bigger receivers.
- Lacks a physical element to his game, and Rodgers doesn’t have a frame that can carry a lot of weight. He’ll get outmuscled at the top of routes by bigger receivers.
- Doesn’t have a physical edge to his game, lacking power in his initial punch. That holds true in run support as well, where he is hesitant to come downhill and misses too many tackles.
