Across 11 games in 2025 he caught three passes for 39 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown against Western Carolina, and he moved to East Carolina in January 2026.
Melvin opened 2026 as a starter on the outside for the Pirates. He caught four passes for 60 yards and a score in the 48-10 loss at Alabama and led the team with seven catches for 94 yards in the 27-24 loss to App State. Back stiffness cost him time in September, and he was ruled out against Temple on 31 October with an undisclosed issue.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Caught a touchdown pass in the season opener at Alabama
- Led East Carolina with 94 receiving yards against App State
- Hauled in two contested throws during the App State game
- Productive high school scorer with 25 career touchdown catches
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Back stiffness and another undisclosed issue have cost him games
- Rice held him to one catch on six targets
- Only three receptions across two years at Wake Forest
- Just 31 yards after the catch on 13 receptions this fall
- Managed one catch for 21 yards in the game at UAB
Scouting Report: Summary
Melvin is an outside receiver who moved into East Carolina's starting lineup this fall. He scored at Alabama and posted 94 yards against App State, and he has won half of his contested chances. However, injuries have kept him off the field for several games, and Rice nearly blanked him. He did very little at Wake Forest and adds few yards after the catch.
Overall, Melvin is a developing receiver whose first starting season has been interrupted. He projects as a priority free agent and remains eligible to return in 2027.

For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.
*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
