After high school, Stockton opted to join Georgia.In 2023 as a freshman Stockton saw action in just 3 games for the Bulldogs as he threw for just 52 yards on 9 attempts with a completion percent of 66.7 for an average of 5.8 yards per pass, with no TDs, while taking one sack, and just QB rating of 42.1.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Possesses an NFL arm. Gets the ball from one hash to the opposite sideline in a hurry. Has the zip to hit tight windows on short and intermediate throws.
- Stockton plays with a confident demeanor and has the athleticism to move out of the pocket and create plays out of structure.
- Dual-threat quarterback with athletic footwork and mobility. Instinctive runner with very good toughness - uses stiff arms and runs with good body strength.
- Sprays the ball anywhere on the field, especially when given a pocket from which to deliver. Will step up into pocket while looking downfield, reset his feet and deliver.
- Stockton moves effectively and can throw on the run. He’s at his best on bootlegs, showing zip and accuracy on those throws.
- Good (not elite) arm strength and can easily make all the NFL throws with effortless deep passes.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Lacks poise in the pocket and abandons his reads too quickly. Takes too many chances.
- Stockton has a tendency to hold the ball too long, and Stockton will make panicked throws; good things don’t always follow when he’s forced to extend plays.
- Stockton will have to prove he can handle an expanded, multi-progression NFL offense.
