Dante Moore from Martin Luther King High School was rated a 5-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 5-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Moore opted to join UCLA.In 2023 as a freshman Moore saw action in 9 games for the Bruins as he threw for 1609 yards on 214 attempts with a completion percent of 53.3 for an average of 7.5 yards per pass, with 11 TDs, while taking 27 sacks, and QB rating of 77.4.
After the season Moore transferred to Oregon where as a sophomore he played in one game as he passed for only 15 yards on 3 attempts with a completion percent of 100 for an average of 5.0 yards per pass, with no TDs, while also taking no sacks, and putting up QB rating of 87.5.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Generally accurate on intermediate and short throws; flashes anticipation and placement on intermediate outs and the ability to lead receivers on deeper throws.
- Very confident passer and shows good accuracy and feel when in rhythm. Showed better ball placement from past years and throws very catchable passes. Puts too much air in some of his throws and needs to show a lower trajectory on deep throws.
- Enough arm strength to drive the ball through tight windows up to 20 yards downfield. Spreads the ball around to multiple receivers.
- Good accuracy overall, including excellent accuracy on short timing routes to backs and receivers, placing the ball slightly in front to lead receivers to potential yardage after the catch.
- Ball placement is a strength. Moore has the natural instincts to make plays when forced to improvise.
- Physically, Moore is a natural athlete who plays with the balance and light feet to float in the pocket.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Moore has a tendency to hold the ball too long, and Moore will make panicked throws; good things don’t always follow when he’s forced to extend plays.
- Moore has a bad habit of fading and throwing off his back foot when the pocket gets muddled, and he is too often all arm when throwing on the move, sacrificing accuracy.
- His arm is good but not great, and he loses accuracy and velocity when he is moved off his spot.
